Journal Entry - First
Jan. 29th, 2023 12:48 pmI am genuinely going to make An Attempt at just Putting Words On The Page with this— I have an ongoing habit of starting blogs/diaries/witchbooks/suchlike and then abandoning them with little to no content, and I really really want to Not Do That For Once even if it means just writing completely stream of consciousness nonsense on the internet. Which, like, it be like that sometimes.
Anyway, I really need to stop planning out knitting projects four or five in advance— I currently have somewhere between two and four on needles right now and I already have plans for the next four (I think its only four. I hope its only four), two for partners (Subtlism and Luckdragon) that I've already bought yarn for, and two for myself (one for Zygaxi, which I haven't decided on yet, and one which is going to be a devotional to the Emperor and Empress, Widdershins). And I'm still looking at yarn for more projects than that. Someone stop me, please.
I'm excited, though: my fiance has decided to try fiber-crafting! He's currently working on crochet, to which I wish him the best of luck as I personally cannot for the life of me get a handle on it, and I've offered to try and show him knitting as well, although my track record with teaching is not exactly the greatest (that might have been a function of the student, though, given that the last attempt was with ex-girlfriend.) If nothing else, at least I can send him some of the eight bajillion patterns I've hoarded! I may not be good at finishing projects in a timely manner but oh Boy am I good at curating them for no discernible reason.
Really, I think that everyone should have at least one hobby that is Making A Thing. Most people I know have heard me go on about this at length whether they've wanted to hear it or not, but. Its just important to the human brain to be able to point at an Item and go I Have Made An Item. It doesn't need to be complex, or even classically good, but making art is just one of those things that I think people get really weird without doing for a while.
I've rambled enough. I shall subject myself again to the mortifying ordeal ofbeing known posting on a blog at another time, I think.
